Now I am begging for critique and suggestion for my exam project. I will love you all to death if you could leave some sort of feedback BEFORE friday!! ;A; I am seriously struggling with it and I seem to hate it more and more and just can't find a way to really finish it ;A; I like the background more than the front image. this is bad "">_>

I find it to be kinda good, tbh. Maybe the one element you should/could refine is the door, which doesn't really convice me that much. Also, what's the theme of your exam project?

since I posted the previous one I have done a lot of work on it based on my granny's advice ewe The door is now gone, it was stupid anyway, and the drawing is now turning the dramatic way, that and lots and lots of colour working ewe I find it to be kinda good, tbh. Maybe the one element you should/could refine is the door, which doesn't really convice me that much. Also, what's the theme of your exam project? My theme is fairytale, but I kept getting futher and futher away from the theme, so it is now loosly based on The Shadow.

I liked the door it felt like it was the only place the guy could escape to before his shadow would finally get to him/take him over.
It felt like the only safe spot in the entire place. Like the whole place is his personal hell and even his shadow is against him and the only way to escape it all is reach the safety of the door.

I find myself to agree with gig, tbh. I also found the door to have some kind of metaphorical meaning. It just didn't convice me "aesthetically". But yeah, the theme of the drawing is more on the "human fears (etc.)" side, rather than on the fairytale one imho One thing: without the door, the background seems a bit too bare :/

It really brings me joy! ;A; I find myself to agree with gig, tbh. I also found the door to have some kind of metaphorical meaning. It just didn't convice me "aesthetically". Be careful you do not fall into the trap that a lot of creative people will fall into. The one that in the end only see the mistakes in something you created. A lot of people have this problem that a small "mistake"(that someone else wouldn't even see) will be the only thing the creator will see.
I think a director said a while ago he hardly watch his own movies due to only see the mistakes in it and can not enjoy them.

I know this problem, and yesterday when I picked this work it was exactly what I felt, but right now I get more and more satisfied with it!

maybe you could open the door and show a glimps of the world behind the door, this way you can put a bit more of that fairy tale back in the painting maybe. think alice in wonderland almost XD

Following gig's thoughts, you can also add some kind of "insubstantial", shadowly, feeble figures on the other side of the "mist". Something that may resembles the old friends/memories of the guy, who wants to get them back, but he is now too corrupted (by the shadow).
(?? XD)

. Something that may resembles the old friends/memories of the guy, who wants to get them back, but he is now too corrupted (by the shadow). (?? XD) Sounds like you haven't read the fairytale kya? The master was a knowledgable schoolar who once jokingly told his shadow to go take a look at the house in front of his, which it did. It left it's master for ages, then one day came back as a man. The master greeted his old shadow like an old friend. The shadow had become a refine man. The two of them parted after a chat. The people around the master will find him more and more weird after time. The master can't make people listen to him and when his old shadow comes by again, and suggest that they could swap places, the master agreed and became the shadows shadow. The old master travled around with the shadow and one day they were at a palace and the shadow scored the princess. when the shadow told the old master, that he will marry the princess and the old master is to remain the shadow and keep the fact that the shadow is a shadow hidden. the old master refused and got silent forever. the shadow then married the princess. resume to all, whom might not know about the fairytale x3 the old scholar didn't really had any friends as he was kinda shut it and if he did in fact have friends they were never mentioned.
